Understanding severity.
Gynecomastia is classified by severity, which determines the surgical approach required.
- Grade I – Small breast enlargement without excess skin. Often treated with liposuction alone.
- Grade II – Moderate enlargement with some glandular tissue. Requires liposuction and excision.
- Grade III – Significant enlargement with skin excess. May require skin removal in addition.

How gynecomastia is corrected.

Four ways Dr Saba treats gynecomastia.

- Gynecomastia with Vaser liposuction: for a chest that is mainly soft fat (often called pseudogynecomastia). Vaser removes the fat through small incisions.
- Vaser with gland removal: for a mix of fat and a firm disc of gland behind the nipple. Vaser treats the fat and the gland is removed through a small incision at the lower edge of the areola.
- Gland removal with areolar reduction: for gland enlargement where the areola is also stretched or wide. The gland is removed and the areola made smaller, with the scar around its edge.
- Gland removal only: for a firm, localised lump of gland with little extra fat, sometimes called a “puffy nipple”. Only the gland is removed.
